Wie vielseitig und interessant die Ergebnisse sein können, wenn sich Künstler verschiedener Bereiche zu einem gemeinsamen Projekt zusammenfinden, haben Sie bereits mehrfach in unseren Kulturprojekten erleben können.
Auch in diesem Jahr wird wieder ein Event stattfinden:

Premiere. In Kürze werden wir dazu hier informieren, doch zuerst möchten wir uns der Frage stellen, was genau interdisziplinäre Arbeit eigentlich bedeutet – ein Beitrag unserer Dozentin Willanny Darias (www.musicamental.com).

Interdisziplinäre künstlerische Arbeit spielt in musikalischer und künstlerischer Ausbildung oft keine vordergründige Rolle. Dieser Artikel soll daher auf die Vorteile der Kombination verschiedener Kunstformen eingehen, sowohl für den einzelnen Künstler, die Künste selbst und die gesamte Kunstwelt.
1. Wissenswertes zur interdisziplinären Kunstarbeit
Die besten Künstler wurden oft durch andere Kunstformen inspiriert, die ihren Stil beeinflussten und viele ihrer Innovationen begründeten.
Keine Kunst ist wirklich isoliert, und in der Geschichte des künstlerischen und persönlichen Ausdrucks ist alles tief miteinander verbunden.
Zwei große Beispiele interdisziplinärer Kunst, die zu einer eigenen Kunstform geworden sind, sind Oper und Film, die musikalische, literarische und visuelle Aspekte zu einem zusammenhängenden Ganzen vereinen.
In unserer modernen Welt ziehen die erfolgreichsten Menschen aus vielen verschiedenen Quellen Wissen und Inspiration, denn wir haben heutzutage einen noch nie da gewesenen Zugang zu Informationen, Kommunikation, Kunst, Aufnahmen und Reisen - und wir können diesen Zugang nutzen, um die Horizonte unseres eigenen künstlerischen Ausdrucks zu erweitern.
Das Internet bietet unglaubliche Möglichkeiten der Zusammenarbeit und kann das Ausmaß und die Vielfalt der Teilnehmer wirklich erweitern. Gleichgesinnte Menschen können unabhängig von Zeit und Raum zusammenzuarbeiten.
Es gibt mehr Gleichgesinnte in der Welt, als man denken würde. Auch wenn Sie unterschiedliche Medien verwenden, können Fokus und Ziele gleich sein.
Die besten Kooperationen entstehen, wenn man sich die jeweiligen Fähigkeiten der verschiedenen Künstler konstruktiv ergänzen und so eine „win-win“-Situation entsteht.
Es gibt keine Grenzen für künstlerischen Ausdruck und Kombinationen, nur die im eigenen Kopf!
2. Individuelle Vorteile für den Künstler
Wenn Sie sich in interdisziplinärer Arbeit engagieren, kommen Sie in engen Kontakt mit neuen Menschen, anderen Ausdrucksformen, frischen Ideen und neuen Perspektiven auf Bekanntes. Das alles kann für den Einzelkünstler viele Vorteile haben:
erhöhte Kreativität und Phantasie
mehr Motivation und Inspiration für das, was man am liebsten tut
Erweitern und Verfeinern der eigenen Interessen und Ziele
Entdecken neuer und bisher unbekannter kreativer Möglichkeiten
Kennenlernen der aktuellen Ströme in der zeitgenössischen künstlerischen Welt und die Einordnung der eigenen Arbeit

Die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Künstlern aus verschiedenen Bereichen, einschließlich (aber nicht beschränkt auf) Musik, Tanz, Theater, bildende Kunst, Performance, Design, digitale Medien und Literatur, kann zu einem außergewöhnlichen geistigen und emotionalen Reichtum führen:

Die interdisziplinäre Forschung kann auch zu Synergien mit Wissenschaft und spirituellen Themen führen
Viele Dinge, die ein einzelnen Künstler nicht allein schaffen kann, können als Gruppe umgesetzt werden – Es steckt unglaubliches Potenzial in der Zusammenarbeit.
Die Tatsache, dass eine viele Menschen an einem Projekt beteiligt sind, bringt einen besonderen künstlerischen Mehrwert mit sich
Man kann aus den verschiedenen künstlerischen Disziplinen und auch aus den Ansätzen und Persönlichkeiten der anderen lernen - dem Charismatischen, dem Kreativen, dem Organisierten… Wenn jeder etwas Nützliches in der Zusammenarbeit erkennt, steigt die Qualität des gesamten Projektes.
4. Das Ganze im Blick: Auswirkungen auf die Gesellschaft und die Welt
Interdisziplinäre Arbeit ermöglicht, die vielfältigen Möglichkeiten zu erforschen, in denen Kunst kulturelle, soziale und politische Fragen aufwerfen kann. Wozu einem als Einzelperson manchmal die Worte fehlen, kann zusammen mit anderen ausgedrückt werden.
Jeder Künstler hat unterschiedliche Lebenserfahrungen und besondere Fähigkeiten. Schritt für Schritt formt sich eine gemeinsame Vision des Projekts, die dann durch die Expertise der einzelnen Teilnehmer verwirklicht wird.
Vielleicht möchte man ein Problem ansprechen, gegen globale Themen protestieren oder eine gewisse Nächstenliebe transportieren – die Gruppenmitglieder können sich auf unterschiedliche Themen konzentrieren oder das gleiche in unterschiedlicher Weise. Während Kompromisse gemacht werden müssen, ist es wichtig, die individuellen Einflüsse der Beteiligten als Mehrwert zu betrachten, der zur Vielseitigkeit des Ganzen beiträgt. Selten können alle kreativen Impulse in ein einziges Projekt integriert werden. Dieser künstlerische „Überschuss“ kann jedoch von großem Nutzen für zukünftige Vorhaben sein.
Ein Nebenprodukt interdisziplinärer Arbeitsweise kann ein größeres Publikum sein. Die innovativen und kollaborativen Aspekte des Projekts können eine größere und vielfältigere Öffentlichkeit anziehen - manche Zuschauer brennen für Bildende Kunst, andere für die Poesie oder Musik während andere wiederum sich für die diskutierten sozialen Fragen interessieren.
Jedoch: Größeres Publikum bedeutet mehr Menschen, die der künstlerischen Botschaft ausgesetzt sind! Die künstlerische Verantwortung steigt also.
Ein zentrales Element des wahren Glücks wird weitergegeben, in einen größeren Rahmen gesetzt und bewegt das Publikum auf eine besondere Weise. Auf diese Art kann Kunst zu einer Form kritischen Denkens und einer transformativen Praxis für den Künstler und die Öffentlichkeit werden.

The amazing benefits of interdisciplinary work in the arts
Interdisciplinary artistic work is often overlooked in musical and artistic education. In this article I want to open your mind to its many possibilities by pointing out some of the benefits it can have for the individual artist, the arts, and the world.
1. Things to remember about interdisciplinary art
• The best artists were very often inspired by other types of art, which influenced their style and informed many of their innovations.
• No art is truly isolated, and in the history of artistic and personal expression, everything is deeply interconnected.
• Two great examples of interdisciplinary art which have become their own art form are opera and film, which combine musical, literary, and visual aspects into a cohesive whole.
• In our modern world, the most successful people draw knowledge and inspiration from many different sources, since we now have an unprecedented access to information, communication, art, recordings and travel - and you can use this access to widen the horizons of your own artistic expression.
• The Internet offers incredible opportunities for collaboration, and can really expand the scale and diversity of the participants. Like-minded people can come together across time and space to work together.
• You may find more similarities and like-minded individuals than you think. Even though you use different mediums, your focus and goals can be the same.
• The best collaborations happen when you work with people who have skills that will benefit your work and whose work you can also enhance - and, even better, when you can comfortably talk and discuss any issues with them.
• There are no limits to artistic expression and combinations, only the ones in your head!
2. Individual benefits for the artist
When you engage in interdisciplinary work you come into close contact with new people, other forms of expression, fresh ideas, and new perspectives on old ideas, all of which can have many benefits for you as an individual artist, for example:
• Increased creativity and imagination
• A rekindled love for what you do - increased motivation and inspiration
• Seeing your art form in a new light
• Getting better at what you do because of your new perspective and insights
• Expanding and refining your own interests and goals
• Discovering new creative opportunities that you didn’t know existed
• Becoming a more complete and cultured artist
• Learning about what is happening in the contemporary artistic world right now and knowing where you stand within it
• Meeting new colleagues and expanding your network
• Refining your interpersonal skills
• Improving your critical thinking
• Learning to solve problems in a collective environment
• Having more opportunities to share your work
• Getting help from other artists in making your ideas a reality
• Applying your knowledge and skills in a different context, which allows you to reinforce and integrate them in a deeper way, and see their value in real life.
• Having the opportunity to develop deep friendships - friendships in which you can have many disagreements, but you know that giving your honest opinion and feedback is more important than being nice, because the work you’re doing together needs you to step up and have that kind of commitment.
3. The artistic exchange: an unprecedented richness
Working with other artists from a variety of practices, including (but not limited to) music, dance, theater, visual arts, performance art, design, digital media, and literature, can bring about an exceptional richness. These are some of the reasons why:
• Innovation is almost a given in such an environment.
• The interdisciplinary exploration can lead some artists to look even further into relationships and connections between art and other fields, like science or spirituality.
• Many things which could not be done by an individual artist can be accomplished as a group - there is only so much we can do alone! There is power and potential in collaboration.
• The different artistic expressions can make a project have deeper significance and resonance, since several people have shaped, refined and thought about it as opposed to one.
• Every member can learn from the various artistic disciplines and also from the approaches and personalities of the others - the charismatic, the creative, the organized one, and so on. If everybody takes something useful out of the exchange, then the quality of the entire project rises.
4. The bigger work: impact on society and the world
Interdisciplinary work allows you to explore the many ways in which art can publicly address cultural, social and political issues. What you cannot say as an individual, you can express together with others. Having input from several people in different artistic fields really expands the possibilities of what you can do. Each artist will have distinct life experiences and particular skills. Together you can discuss and ultimately define a common vision for each project, and then make it happen by using the strengths of each member.
You may want to address an issue in your community, protest against a global problem, help a certain charity or bring people closer to a specific spiritual path. Similarly, the other people in the group may want to focus on another problem, or the same one but in different way. While compromises might need to be made, it’s important to not see the different visions you might have as a negative factor, but as opportunities waiting to be tapped into. Although a single project might not be able to express everything that all of you want, the goal of making some positive change in the world should stay at the center of the work - and whatever you weren’t able to include in your current project, can always be used in a separate one!
A by-product of this kind of work can be an increased audience. The innovative and collaborative aspects of the project can attract a bigger and more diverse public - some may come for the visual arts, others for the poetry, several people may attend because of the music, while others can be interested in the social issue you are addressing. Increased audience means more people being exposed to your message!
A central element of true happiness is stepping outside of yourself, outside of your little world, and doing something with, about and for others, or for causes that are bigger than yourself. It is in this way that art can become a form of critical thinking and a transformational practice for both the artist and the public.
So what are you waiting for? Go find other artists and develop your first project idea, or attend an interdisciplinary event happening near you and be inspired!
